S3 w00t
Anna met with a client today, and her telling me about their questioning of our backup practices really motivated me to not be lazy about it anymore.
I've now got duplicity gziping and encrypting incremental backups automatically from my server to Amazon's S3 storage service. It pleases me *greatly* --Â I feel like I earned my geek badge for the day.
If you're using windows exclusively, I'd recommend something like iDrive.com for free backup, but if you need something accessible from the command line Amazon's S3 prices are insanely low -- I will probably drop more change in my car tomorrow than it's gonna cost me a month.
I have come to hate the two party system
I found this to be really interesting. My personal results weren't particularly surprising, but it made me think.
The end results showing all of the candidates on a 2 axis graph frustrates me -- politics is such a joke. Why are we stuck with two major shams of political parties?
HOA
Sitting through homeowner's association meetings seems to be fairly boring. I can't help but feel that it's my duty to attend, though, particularly when I'm not happy with everything that's happening in the community.
I'm loving the Penny-Arcade podcasts, and I'm really surprised I didn't get into them before. It's weird, but there seems to be something about an automatic xml aggregator that makes a piece of audio commentary so much more appealing.
I also can't decide whether or not I love that I've crossed a geeky barrier into listening to freakin' mp3 about video game comic strips at work.
It’s alive!
I cobbled together my brother-in-law's new computer today.
I don't know which makes me happier: the good deed in giving it, or the accomplishment of gather all of the materials for next to nothing. In any case, I'm very satisfied.
Am I old now?
No, I suppose not.
In other news, I'm catching up with 2004 and really enjoying Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Amazing how time flies and you're suddenly years behind in videogaming.
The problem with lovers
Oh, Volt....just when I thought I was getting over you...
And I was just getting excited about BMW European Delivery, too.
