A brief tour

Good news, everyone! After falling down my stairs yesterday, I was given a vision of what my home is missing.

In its main sitting room, there should be many books, fine tapestries, and of course, music:

This will of course be controlled from my study:

Sins seems to be getting a ton of non-mainstream press. Pretty exciting for a PC game; makes me definately want to check it out. Particularly because of its lack of copy-protection.

Unfortunately there's no demo available, and even with the excitement it's still probably too 4X for me. I need to get my Homeworld on with someone, I think.

I so used this to have my server automatically fix a coworkers podcast to work with my RSS software. In particular, the "cat inputfile | sed -e '/example text/d' > outputfile" business will delete every line that has example text in it. Very useful for those non-compliant feeds!

Good news, everyone!

Anna was pleased by the appearance of Thunderbird and Lightning, so I was able to drop the time-consuming effort to get a Scalix instalation going. Scalix's debian packages seem to suck to me, at least in terms of Ubuntu compatibility. I was seriously considering switching my server stuff to (*gasp*) Red Hat!

Thank goodness for WebCalendar -- easiest calendar server *ever*, and I've moved their business (www.beyondshoebox.com) even more open source. It's a good day.
