PC Gaming = Zombie = Left 4 Dead = Valve
It drives me nuts that perception is often so at odds with reality, regardless the subject. This seems to be (in my observation) largely due to the nature of our distribution and consumption of news.
One (geeky) area that seems affected by this is video gaming. I think Gabe Newell (blessing to the gaming community for over a decade) addresses the issue pretty well in an article I read today at Eurogamer.
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Disney, I have a proposition that will make you millions.
Step 1: Tear down "it's a small world"
Step 2: Replace it with a theater showing the the following film
Step 3: Profit!!!

Friday night
I can't believe I just spent the last half-hour playing Puzzle Farter. I hang my head in shame... (on the plus side, I did beat it on my first attempt, with 2 & 2/3rds lives remaining.
It really have a hankering to play Dead Rising; can't wait to get the 360 back up and running.
TF2 Free Weekend
Valve is offering the ability to play Team Fortress 2 for free, this weekend only.
I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but it's a great class-based FPS; I can't recomment it highly enough.
Podcast Recommendations
My current (geeky) podcast recommendations:
- Downloadable Content: The Penny-Arcade Podcast
- Occasionally released podcast detailing the creative process behind Penny-Arcade strips. Always hilarious; any release goes to the top of my queue.
- Evil Avatar Radio
- Weekly radio show about video games. Good mix of personalities and tastes. A bit too console-centric, but quite enjoyable.
- The TWiT Network
- Leo Laporte's network of podcasts. There are a number of weekly podcasts; I subscribe to the Mac, Windows, and Linux ones (it amuses me how those three range from barely technical to ultra-nerdy). Leo is a great host: he sees the good and bad in everything.
- You Look Nice Today
- Way NSFW, but since I'm writing this for Dan, I have to include the one that most reminds me of him. Non-sequiters galore.
FF 3 = Hot
Great video about some of the new features in Firefox 3, just released today:

Can't recomment it highly enough.
American Top Gear Hosts Announced….
...and I died a little inside.
I'm sure it could be oh so far worse than Adam Carolla, Tanner Foust and Eric Stromer, but man...just not the same excitement at all.
I didn't think it would come so soon
Looks like the hybrids (specifically the Prius) have entered the realm of cost effectiveness. I'll still be holding out for plug-in hybrids, but it's still interesting news in the interim.
Now, if only they made a GT-500 hybrid...
